Description

The Hoka Gaviota 6 is the most supportive shoe in the Hoka range: a stability shoe that combines maximum cushioning with firm support against overpronation. This road running shoe is made for runners who want to run soft and protected, but need hold when their foot rolls inward.

With a wide, stable base and a built-in supportive frame, you run calm and controlled, mile after mile, even as the distance adds up.

Hoka Gaviota 6 at a glance

  • Maximum stability: the highest level of support in the Hoka range, for runners with overpronation.
  • H-Frame technology: a firmer frame in the midsole that resists collapse and keeps your foot on track.
  • Generous cushioning: a soft CMEVA midsole for comfort over long distances.
  • Wide, stable base: a broad platform that gives calm and control on every landing.
  • 6 mm drop: a balanced heel-to-toe offset for a natural transition.
  • Supportive upper: mesh with extra support on the inner side of the foot.

Stability thanks to the H-Frame

The signature of the Gaviota 6 is its H-Frame technology: an H-shaped frame of firmer foam built into the midsole. That frame resists collapse and supports your foot along its full length, so excessive inward roll is countered. What is special is that this support goes hand in hand with a high stack height and soft foam: you get control without it feeling hard or forced. On longer distances in particular, when your form softens with fatigue, the frame keeps your stride neatly on track.

Maximum cushioning for long miles

The soft CMEVA midsole gives the Gaviota 6 generous, comfortable cushioning that absorbs the impact of every landing. Combined with the wide base, you run stable and protected, even if you are slightly heavier or cover many miles. The 6 mm drop creates an even transition from heel to forefoot and keeps your stride natural.

Supportive, comfortable fit

The upper offers extra support on the inner side of the foot, exactly where a stability shoe needs hold. The mesh is comfortable and wrapping, with a well-padded heel and collar that keep your foot in place. So the shoe feels secure and supportive, even during long sessions.

Who is the Hoka Gaviota 6 for?

The Gaviota 6 is intended for runners with overpronation who want maximum cushioning and firm support. It suits daily training and long runs, and is a logical choice if you notice your foot sinking inward when you tire. Heavier runners who need plenty of cushioning with control are also well served.

Good to know

The Gaviota 6 is an outspoken stability shoe and offers more support than many runners need. If you run neutral and need no support, a neutral shoe such as the Bondi 9 makes more sense. Because of the firm support and cushioning, it is also one of the heavier shoes in the range. If you have wide feet, there is a Wide version alongside the regular fit.

Frequently asked questions about the Hoka Gaviota 6

Who is the Hoka Gaviota 6 suitable for?

The Gaviota 6 is suitable for runners with moderate to strong overpronation who want plenty of cushioning. It suits daily training and long runs at an easy to moderate pace. Thanks to the combination of support and soft cushioning, it is also pleasant for heavier runners.

What is overpronation and does the Gaviota 6 help with it?

Overpronation means your foot rolls too far inward on landing. The Gaviota 6 counters this with the H-Frame, which supports your foot along its full length and keeps it on track. So you run calmer and more controlled, especially when you tire.

How much cushioning does the Gaviota 6 have?

The Gaviota 6 has generous, soft cushioning thanks to the tall CMEVA midsole. It absorbs the shocks and makes the shoe comfortable over long distances. At the same time, the H-Frame keeps the soft cushioning stable and controlled.

Is the Gaviota 6 a stability shoe or a neutral shoe?

The Gaviota 6 is an outspoken stability shoe, with the highest level of support in the Hoka range. It offers clearly more guidance than a neutral shoe. If you run fully neutral, a shoe such as the Bondi 9 is a more logical choice.

What is the difference between the Gaviota 6 and the Arahi 9?

Both are stability shoes with an H-Frame, but the Gaviota 6 offers maximum cushioning and the strongest support, while the Arahi 9 is lighter and gives a moderate level of stability. Choose the Gaviota 6 if you want plenty of cushioning and firm support. If you want a lighter shoe with subtle guidance, the Arahi 9 suits better.

Does the Gaviota 6 fit wide or narrow?

The standard version has a regular fit, with a wide, stable base underfoot. If you have wider feet, there is a separate Wide version with extra room. When in doubt, go by your usual running shoe size.
