Which padding can you choose?

Almost all short cycling shorts from Assos come with padding. A good pad is the most important part of a cycling short, as it ensures comfort while sitting and riding, for both short and long rides. Assos is known for its GoldenGate technology, used in many pads. This technology allows the pad to move freely in the right direction, providing better comfort and reducing friction. Depending on your needs, Assos has developed different cycling shorts with specific pads.

• S7 pad: Found mostly in the more affordable Assos shorts. GoldenGate technology allows more freedom of movement and less friction.

Bibshorts or short cycling shorts without straps?

Assos offers both short cycling shorts with straps and without. The choice between bibshorts and shorts without straps is personal and depends on the type of ride. Bibshorts usually offer more comfort and stability for longer rides, while shorts without straps provide slightly more convenience on shorter rides.

Bibshorts are often designed for the bent cycling position, so it is important to try them in that posture. In the sporty position, they provide a perfect fit; upright, they may feel slightly tighter but not uncomfortable. The major advantage of bibshorts is that the straps prevent the shorts from slipping and keep the pad in place for optimal comfort.

Some new shorts, mainly from the Equipe RS line, use the unique X-Frame: an A-frame suspension with two attachment points and less flexible straps, keeping the pad firmer against the seat and stable.

In addition to bibshorts, Assos also offers models without straps, called waist shorts. Elastic waistband prevents slipping but may feel slightly tight.
