About BTTLNS

The name BTTLNS is derived from Battalyana, the Greek goddess of battle. She was the unknown daughter of Enyo, the Greek goddess of war, and was kept hidden for thousands of years. The reason for Battalyana’s resurrection can only be guessed at, but it is believed that she was set free by her mother in 2016. She was determined to raise an army of Battalyans. Together, they would conquer the world to become the world’s top-performing triathletes.

The Origins of BTTLNS

BTTLNS isn’t just any triathlon brand. As a passionate triathlete and founder of BTTLNS, Mark van der Sanden realized that finding the perfect triathlon gear wasn’t always easy. After all, having the ideal equipment can save you seconds or even minutes. That’s why Mark had been experimenting with new and innovative materials for some time to design the perfect triathlon line. This led to the creation of the premium brand BTTLNS in 2016. A high-end triathlon brand that specializes entirely in developing and offering the best triathlon apparel and accessories for the demanding triathlete who wants only the best of the best.

Today, BTTLNS products are shipped all over the world, and more and more professional triathletes, such as Marten van Riel, Stenn Goetstouwers, and Katrien Verstuyft, are experiencing the comfort and benefits of BTTLNS. But an increasing number of amateur triathletes, beginners, and recreational athletes are also finding their way to BTTLNS.

This is reflected, among other things, in the refinement of materials and fabrics, the aerodynamics of tri suits, and the development of new wetsuits that allow you to swim breaststroke or provide better buoyancy. In short, everything you need to perform your sport effectively and comfortably.

From the drawing board to the finished product

To create the best and most beautiful products, there are quite a few steps that must be taken before the product becomes a true BTTLNS product. All products are developed by the Dutch BTTLNS team. From conceiving new innovative clothing to the smallest details needed to gain that extra edge, everything is considered and developed in-house at BTTLNS.

When developing a new product, BTTLNS always considers what you, the user, need. What do you need as a triathlete, and what is still missing on the market? They also look at how they can continuously improve existing products. For example, BTTLNS uses only the best materials, such as Yamamoto neoprene for its wetsuits and YKK zippers for its trisuits.
At BTTLNS, the process of creating a new product always starts with the user; your wishes and needs are paramount. BTTLNS then combines your ideas and tips with their own vision and ideas, while also asking top athletes what they consider important so that you, regardless of your level, can always benefit.

The BTTLNS design team will develop an initial concept using all the input received, which is then used to create a concept model. To ensure the highest quality, all products are first extensively tested by BTTLNS itself, top triathletes, and the test panel, after which the feedback received is incorporated into the prototype.

It is during the development of the prototype that the product truly comes to life; visually, the designer aims for the most attractive appearance so that you always look your best while swimming, cycling, and running.

Has the new product passed our strict selection process? Only then is the final product manufactured. And this final product is also subjected to another round of rigorous testing.

Collaborations with and sponsorship by BTTLNS

In addition to collaborating with athletes on product development, BTTLNS also partners with athletes through sponsorship. Currently, BTTLNS sponsors athletes such as Marten van Riel, Katrien Verstuyft, Erik-Simon Strijk, and Ruben Geys. BTTLNS also has a partnership with the athlete team of Athletes for Hope, founded by Marc Herremans, and athletes such as Stenn Goetstouwers, Hasse Fleerackers, and Kirsten Nuyes.

In addition, BTTLNS also partners with triathlon clubs such as: Taxandria Triathlon and the KPN triathlon team.

Then there is the partnership with Marc Herremans and his Athletes for Hope team. These are (young) Belgian talents who are coached by Marc’s team. BTTLNS provides these athletes with a full set of triathlon equipment. In addition to training and mentoring the Athletes for Hope athletes, there is also the rehabilitation program. Through this program, Marc is dedicated to helping children affected by paralysis, as well as all children with disabilities, to recover mentally and physically.

Another partnership is with Tri2One coaching. This partnership began in 2017. Based in Amsterdam, Tri2One offers various coaching programs for both novice and experienced triathletes. They have the best professional coaches with extensive experience and ensure that, together with them, you achieve your goals. Professional fitness tests, the most exclusive place to learn or improve your front crawl—everything is available at our own unique test & training center in Amsterdam.

A completely different side of BTTLNS is its social commitment. A great example is the collaboration with Maarten van der Weijden and his foundation, the Maarten van der Weijden Foundation. In the past, BTTLNS has been able to contribute to major and inspiring initiatives such as the Elfstedenzwemtocht (swimming the route of the Elfstedentocht) and the home triathlon (Maarten completed a classic long-distance triathlon—an IronMan—in his own home and garden).

Did you know this about BTTLNS?

- Many people don’t know how to officially pronounce BTTLNS. For example, we hear people spelling it out and pronouncing it as B T T L and S. But officially, you pronounce BTTLNS with the vowels in between: bAttAlyAns.

Wetsuit test days organized by BTTLNS

Since 2017, BTTLNS has been organizing the best wetsuit test days. These are the most enjoyable days where you can come and test your new wetsuit. Wetsuit experts will provide you with advice on which wetsuit best meets your needs. And most importantly, you’ll have the unique opportunity to test the wetsuit directly in the water and compare it with other wetsuit models if you wish. All of this takes place at fantastic swimming locations in the Netherlands and Belgium. The goal is to give everyone plenty of time to test wetsuits in the water.

Through these test days, BTTLNS ensures you don’t have to worry about a thing, allowing you to focus on maximizing your performance.
