Mountain bike (MTB) or road cycling overshoes?

Overshoes are available for both mountain bikers and road cyclists. All overshoes have openings at the bottom. This allows you to use your SPD or SPD-SL shoes whether you want to mountain bike or road cycle. As a mountain biker, you often walk more in your shoes than a road cyclist. In addition, mountain bike shoes often have a larger and coarser tread than road cycling shoes. That is why MTB overshoes often have larger open sections at the bottom so you don’t walk on the material of the overshoe. Sometimes these are made of stronger and more robust material. This makes them more durable and less prone to wear. MTB overshoes also often have a Velcro closure at the bottom, whereas road overshoes have a partially closed bottom.

What size overshoes do you need?

For the right size overshoes, you can use the size of your cycling shoes. Not sure or in doubt? Then you can also bring your cycling shoes to our store to try them on. It is important that overshoes fit well. Overshoes that are too large can slide over the front of your shoes while riding, meaning you no longer have rain and wind protection. And overshoes that are too small won’t fit properly over your cycling shoes, which could cause them to tear if you pull too hard.
